Accused killer of teenager Chelsea King pleads not guilty
JOHN Albert Gardner III, the man accused of raping and murdering 17-year-old Chelsea King, has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The 30-year-old Gardner did not speak at today's hearing at the San Diego County courthouse except for uttering a single word - “yes” - when addressed by the judge during the date-setting part of the hearing. Gardner’s next status hearing is set for March 9.
Gardner, a convicted sex offender, was arrested on Sunday night in connection with King's murder.
Chelsea went missing Thursday while jogging around Lake Hodge, a park near San Diego, California. Her body was discovered in a shallow grave around 1pm local time on Tuesday.
Earlier yesterday, police in Rancho Bernardo, California discovered a threat painted on the garage door of Gardner’s parents’ home.
