Elin Nordegren gives husband Tiger Woods six months to shape-up or ship out
Sex addict Tiger Woods’ shattered wife Elin has given him one last chance.
In a dramatic change of heart the former model has told the disgraced golfer: You have six months to prove you won’t cheat again to save our marriage.
She made the decision after meeting doctors at the clinic treating Tiger’s sex addiction. They convinced her that her husband has made “remarkable progress”.
Yesterday a close friend of 30-year-old Elin said: “She has been convinced there is hope for the marriage.
“The doctors told her she shouldn’t underestimate Tiger’s ability to learn new coping skills and grow as a person.
“She has been convinced by the professionals that there is hope – and this isn’t lawyers or businessmen giving her advice, it’s doctors. And they say he has made remarkable progress.”
The friend added: “It is so hard for Elin. After all the horrible stories about his affairs and all the hurt, the reality is there is still a lot of love left for Tiger. That’s why she is willing to give him another chance.
"She would hate herself if she just gave up on him, especially when he’s so serious about getting help. But one thing is for sure… Elin won’t be duped twice.”
Her decision comes just weeks after she told friends she was full of hatred for Tiger – worth a reported £500million – and was planning to end their five-year marriage and move back to Sweden with their children Sam, two, and Charlie, one.
But when Tiger checked out of rehab on Friday, Elin – who also took part in counselling sessions – was there to collect him.
During his treatment Tiger, 34, admitted to romps with nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel, 34, waitress Jaimee Grubbs, 26, and one other mistress.
He is accused of more than 12 affairs but has reportedly refused to talk about some because it would be too upsetting for Elin.
Despite her heartbreak Elin, Tiger and their children are now staying together at a friend’s house in Florida and are planning a second honeymoon on Tiger’s £14million yacht, Privacy.
The Sunday Mirror can also reveal that next week the whole family will move back into their Florida mansion.
But Elin has told friends she won’t wear her wedding ring until she is convinced that their marriage can be saved.
The friend added: “For the moment it is locked in a safe. Elin sees that ring as a symbol to the world that they are solidly in love and in a committed marriage.
“She will only wear her ring again when she has made her mind up what the future holds. She is cautiously optimistic
but is taking things one day at a time.”
Elin is reportedly heartbroken at claims she is holding out for a £300million-plus divorce settlement.
“There is not enough money in the world to buy Elin’s love,” our source added. “She can’t be bought. And after five years of marriage she feels she has to try to make things work.”
Tiger has only been seen in public once – emerging from the Mississippi clinic – since his car crash on November 27.
But now his advisers are working on a comeback strategy in the hope the golfer can quickly rebrand his shattered image. It includes a TV appearance in which Tiger is expected to admit to his affairs.
He is reportedly planning to play in the WGC Match Play Championship in Arizona later this month and the US Masters which starts on April 8.
