Victoria Beckham comforts Cheryl Cole over split with love rat Ashley
Victoria Beckham has sent a message of sympathy to Cheryl Cole – and said she understands the anguish she has been suffering.
Victoria’s husband David, 34, was accused of getting close to his personal assistant Rebecca Loos in 2004. It put pressure on their relationship at the time but he and Victoria are now stronger than ever.
The former Spice Girl said she was confident the Girls Aloud singer would emerge stronger than ever from the scandal surrounding estranged husband Ashley’s alleged string of affairs.
Victoria, 35, said: “I have so much sympathy for Cheryl. My heart goes out to her – both as a woman and as someone in the media spotlight.
“I feel for her so much, it’s a horrible situation but she’s a fantastic, strong woman and she will be fine.”
Cheryl, 26, and Posh became friends during the 2006 World Cup in Germany and went out for dinner several times. Speaking at Elton John’s Oscars party, Victoria said: “I do sympathise.”
Meanwhile, sources close to Cole say if divorce is unavoidable he wants it to be finalised by the start of this summer’s World Cup so he can concentrate on the tournament.
A source said: “There is little hope of them getting back together. They are due to see each other this week but even that hasn’t been set in stone yet. Ashley has been telling friends he feels its over but you have to wonder what will happen when the do see each other.
“You never know, they both may feel very differently about things when they see each other face to face. So in that respect, there could be a glimmer of hope.”
Cheryl has still not consulted divorce lawyers. She will meet up with Cole, 29, when he returns from France, where he is having treatment on a broken ankle.
