IT'S SUCH A SHAME WHAT'S HAPPENED
Heartbroken Cheryl Cole came close to tears as she told a friend how she is preparing for a dramatic showdown this week with cheating husband Ashley.
Cheryl, 26, said she has to find the strength to sit down with Cole when he returns to Britain and confront him over his affairs with five girls.
The singer flew back to London yesterday after a storming live appearance on the Danish version of The X Factor.
And it was obvious how out-of-sorts she is, as she tried to hide a cold sore on her lip - commonly triggered by stress - as she arrived at Heathrow.
During her Danish trip, Cheryl said she was struggling to come to terms with her marriage breakdown.
And she even said she was thinking of quitting Britain for Los Angeles.
On the flight to Copenhagen on Thursday a dejected-looking Cheryl was overheard talking to her manager Hilary Shaw. A fellow passenger said Cheryl's eyes welled up as she opened up about Ashley, who is due back in the UK on Tuesday after being treated for a broken ankle in France.
Cheryl told her manager: "We need to sit down and have a talk about what has gone on. I don't know what to do. It's such a shame what's happened."
The singer then stared out of the plane window, occasionally turning to ask her manager: "What do you think I should do?" But it was all business in Denmark, as Cheryl performed hit single Fight For This Love with a team of dancers.
Unlike at the Brit Awards, where she was criticised for out-of-synch miming, she insisted on singing live.
And her performance was hailed as "fantastic" by the Danish panel.
One of the judges, Soulshock - real name Carsen Schack, a music producer pal of Cheryl - revealed the star is thinking of moving to LA full-time.
He told the Sunday Mirror: "I had a good chat to Cheryl for about an hour before the show.
"She didn't want to talk about Ashley. She was speaking about LA and how she really wanted to get back there and start working on new songs.
"Cheryl is using her work as a real focus at the moment. She's a very professional artist and there is nothing that will get in her way."
