Casey Johnson's death confirmed
POLICE have confirmed the death of troubled socialite Casey Johnson, despite her lesbian partner Tila Tequila saying the Johnson & Johnson heiress was "not dead but in a coma".
“I can confirm there’s been a death and the body has been identified as Casey Johnson,” Los Angeles Police Department Sergeant Charles Halliburton said, according to OK magazine.
The 30-year-old's death was reported by gossip website TMZ.
TV personality Tequila, appeared to confirm the death earlier this afternoon on Twitter, posting: "Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson. She has passed away. Thank u for all ur love and support but I will be offline to be w family".
A second posting on Tequila's official Twiiter page said: "This is a very heartbreaking time for me. I just want some pricacy (sic) as I deal with the loss of my Fiance Casey Johnson. I'm (sic) heart is shredded."
But shortly after Tequila posted: "I just got news that my fiance is not dead but currently in a coma!!! Omg please pray that she will make it! Hang in there my love please!!!"
Moments later she added: "I know u can feel me Casey! Dot let go! I'm almost home baby please hang on! We have a beautiful life planned out for us! I LOVE u! Hang on!"
However following publication of the LAPD confirmation - she posted the following: "R.I.P my Angel. @caseyjonsonJnJ u will forever be in my heart! I love u so so much and we will Marry when I see U in Heaven my Wifey".
People magazine quoted another LAPD officer confirming the death.
The report said the LAPD and firefighters were called to a house and Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, with the cause of death as yet undetermined,
"It appears to be a natural death," police Officer Sara Faden.
"There's no evidence of foul play. A toxicology report from the coroner's office will proceed next."
Johnson, who was openly gay, was the daughter of New York Jets owner Robert "Woody" Johnson and great-great-grand-daughter of Robert Wood Johnson, who co-founded the Johnson & Johnson health care empire.
In 2007, she adopted a daughter, named Ava from Kazakhstan.
Johnson has a history of drug problems and has failed at rehab several times, according to several news sites.
She was also battling her mother, Sale Johnson, for custody of Ava.
The girl was taken away from Casey Johnson when the heiress was found to be living in squalor, according to the New York Daily News.
Sale and Robert Johnson, who are divorced, recently cut off her trust fund when she refused to get help for drug abuse, friends have said.
She was arrested in November on charges of grand theft.
The alleged victim was reportedly her ex-girlfriend, Jasmine Leonard.
Johnson became engaged to Tequila in early December.
Tequila, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, is a Singapore-born singer, model and television personality.
She has created headlines for posing nude in Stuff, Maxim and Penthouse magazine and for her role as a host of the TV show Pants-Off Dance-Off.
The 28-year-old also had an MTV reality show called A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila which aired for two seasons.
She was discovered by a Playboy scout in a mall when she was 18.
