The world's most expensive mobile phone
When the C.E.O. of the Aphrodisiac Nite Club, Ms Confidence Haugen accused Ghanaian hip-life artiste, Ayigbe Edem of stealing her mobile phone worth about $14,000, it caused quite a stir, with people finding it quite unbelievable that a mobile phone should cost $14,000.
Well, those people are wrong, because there are a number of phones that even cost more than the above stated amount.
For some time now, the most expensive mobile phone, featuring a blinding 120 carats worth of VVS-1 grade diamonds, has been the “Le million”, and as its name states, costs about $1,000,000, but its reign was short-lived when Stuart Hughes, expertly familiar with slapping precious metals onto slightly less precious mobile phones, took Apple’siPhone 3GS, replaced it with a 22 carat solid gold body, sprinkled about 190 diamonds on it, and to make sure no riff raff can get their hands on it, priced this creation at £1,920,000 ($3,200,000), not bad huh?
How precious
Since pure gold is too soft to withstand the stresses of daily use, the phone is alloyed with a mixture of metals like silver, copper, palladium, and zinc to give it strength and durability.
The 18 carat gold is composed of 75% gold, alloyed with 25% other metals, and not only does this make the piece more valuable, it makes it strong enough to withstand daily use while maintaining its traditional, rich golden colour.
The phone is still a normal iPhone 3GS but has one feature that most iPhone users go through “hell” to get. The phone is unlocked to all networks worldwide. That may not be an extraordinary feature, but it’s worth it (at least for those who would buy it), considering the fact that some Oil-Rich, Abu-Dhabi Prince might order one.
So, with this fact established, there’s no doubt that there’s a mobile phone that costs about 220 times more than Confidence Haugen’s phone $14,000.
