Tiger Woods sex scandal who's who: Wife Elin Nordegren, alleged lover Rachel Uchitel and more
may be the world’s top golfer, but he’s looking like one sub-par husband and that perfect swing is no match for the kind of rough he's stuck in now.
With eight alleged mistresses (and counting), Woods has bogeyed beyond the point of salvage and that careful wall he'd constructed to protect his private life is all but pulverized.
A new player comes to the fore with each passing day. To keep them straight – we offer this guide to the key places and faces in the Tiger Woods sex scandal:
THE CRASH: The scandal began Nov. 27, after Woods rammed his black Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant and a tree outside his mansion in Windermere, Fla. Reports of a domestic brawl over extramarital dalliances surfaced almost immediately.
THE WIFE HE WRONGED:
Elin Nordegren, 29, a Swedish former bathing suit model born in Stockholm, married Tiger Woods, 33, in 2004. The couple has two children under age two: Sam and Charlie. Nordgren was a fixture on the golf course, standing by her husband’s side for his many tournament wins. She is the daughter of radio journalist Thomas Nordegren and Barbro Holmberg, a politician in Sweden. Nordegren was with her husband after he crashed his black Escalade into a fire hydrant and a tree outside his Florida home Nov. 27 just after 2:25 a.m. Rumors swirled that the couple brawled over Woods' alleged affairs before the wreck, and that Nordgren - not the crash - may have been responsible for cuts and bruises on the golfer's face. Woods denied that. Nordegren recently bought a mansion in Sweden, fueling speculation that she may be planning an exit amid reports of Woods’ serial infidelity. [More on Nordegren]
THE (ALLEGED) MISTRESSES
Rachel Uchitel: Uchitel was the first woman linked to Woods. She was outed by the National Enquirer and was reportedly texting Woods before he crashed the SUV. Uchitel has denied sleeping with Woods, but the golfer’s long-time pal paid for her plane ticket to Australia last month. And she was spotted at the same hotel in Melbourne that Woods was staying at. Uchitel worked as an event planner and later as a producer at Bloomberg News before moving on to rub shoulders with the rich and famous working the door at A-list Las Vegas and New York nightlife spots, including Tao and the Meatpacking District club Griffin. Uchitel's fiance James Andrew O'Grady was killed in the Sept. 11 attacks and a photo of a sobbing Uchitel holding flyers with his photograph became a symbol of the city's collective grief. Friends report she became a wild child after that. [More on Uchitel
