Tess Daly says marriage to Vernon Kay is back on track, following racy texts revelations

Tess Daly was all smiles yesterday as she confirmed that her marriage to Vernon Kay is back on track.
The relationship between TV’s golden couple was rocked by revelations that Family Fortunes host Vernon had sent racy texts to glamour model Rhian Sugden and four other girls.
But mum-of-two Tess, 40, who co-hosts Strictly Come Dancing, is confident she and Vernon are well on the way to patching things up.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, she said last night: “The past few weeks have been tough, but we’re working through it.”
Mirror columnist Tess added that she was grateful for the many good wishes she’s received from fans in the wake of the text revelations.
She said: “I’ve been really touched by the support from the public and it feels great being back at work.”
Yesterday, she looked fabulous as she was snapped leaving a North London studio after a photoshoot for her M&S beauty range.
It marked a return to work for Tess, who decided to take some time out after husband Vernon confessed to swapping X-rated text messages with five women.
On Monday, the couple appeared in public for the first time since the scandal broke, at the Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards. And next week Tess is due to appear on BBC1’s The One Show and ITV’s This Morning to promote her parenting book, The Baby Diaries.
Tess and Vernon, who have two daughters – Phoebe, five, and 10-month-old Amber – got married in 2003. In the past she has credited their shared family values and northern roots for their successful relationship.
She said: “Away from the cameras we have a pretty normal lifestyle. Our parents were married for life so that’s the attitude I’ve gone into marriage with. That’s what I expect.
“There was no divorce in my family. I know times have changed and divorce rates have gone through the roof, but I’ve gone into it with an optimistic viewpoint.”
After having Amber last May she also praised Vernon for being so supportive. She said: “It’s not easy going to work with a new baby, but Vernon is doing his share and that means a lot. Being a new parent is a big job, there are no breaks.”
Vernon, 35, has apologised for the distress he’s caused, saying: “I’ve got the most beautiful family and I’m embarrassed I’ve put them through this.
