• Toni Terry: It's the final straw.. I'll divorce

John Terry’s furious wife Toni has vowed to divorce him after he cheated on her with the girlfriend of England team-mate Wayne Bridge.
Sobbing Toni, 28, told friends yesterday: “He’s humiliated me for 10 years. But no more. This time I’m going to divorce him.”
Toni fled to her parents’ home with the couple’s two children on Friday night, hours after a judge lifted the gagging order blocking publication of revelations about Terry’s relationship with French model Vanessa Perroncel, 33.
A friend said: “She’s sobbing and raging. I have never seen Toni like this. She is in pieces. She really means it about the divorce.” Last night she banned him from the family home.
If loyal Toni kicks out her cheating husband for good, he is certain to lose the England captaincy in the build-up to the World Cup.
The Sunday Mirror can also reveal that Toni angrily confronted his mistress, sobbing: “How could you do this to me?”
She phoned Vanessa, a close neighbour in Oxshott, Surrey, and raged: “Call yourself a friend? What sort of friend sleeps with their mate’s husband?”
But Vanessa made it clear she does not consider Toni a close friend, saying: “When I split up with Wayne you weren’t there for me. You didn’t call. So you aren’t a friend of mine.”
Toni’s pain was all the worse because it was only on Friday afternoon that Terry told her over the phone of the impending scandal. And even as a judge was about to lift the gagging order, her husband lied, telling her he had not had sex with Vanessa.
“He tried to convince her that he and Vanessa were just good friends, who go back a long way,” said the friend. “As always he clung to the story that other people, the media, are just making it up again.”
Toni turned to her best friends for support, Abbey Clancy, girlfriend of footballer Peter Crouch, and Elen Rives, Frank Lampard’s ex.
She spoke at length to Elen on the phone while Abbey arrived to comfort her. “She was in floods of tears. The pain is so raw,” said a friend.
As the only newspaper journalist to have interviewed Toni, I know she was convinced that after years of lurid headlines and kiss-and-tells, Terry’s wayward days were over.
She knew he was no angel, but the new revelations will have been like a knife through her heart. Indeed, one of the reasons she felt able to give her first newspaper interview was that she had begun to feel so confident in the strength of their relationship.
I gained an unparalleled insight into their marriage when I arrived at their six-bedroom mansion in Surrey last August to talk about her love of horses and new career in dressage.
But within moments of my arrival we were gossiping like old friends.
She talked about the groupies who target footballers and how she coped with the headlines.
She was far from a typical designer-clad WAG. Warm and friendly, she kissed me hello and went off to make me a cup of tea.
And when she saw I was nearly six months pregnant, she began fussing over me like a mini mother hen, offering to make me lunch, and making sure I wasn’t too hot or cold.
Speaking about their lavish lifestyle, Toni said: “John earns an amazing amount of money. But I want our kids to understand that it doesn’t all come on a plate and that they’re very lucky.
“I want them to have manners and be respectful. We both grew up in Essex with parents who worked their hardest to provide for us.
“I remember me and my sister had to sleep on the floor in sleeping bags. John and I know the value of money and a good education.”
Toni added: “We are together on this. We are a team. We will deal with whatever is thrown at us – as a couple and a family.”
But yesterday it appeared Terry had tested Toni’s loyalty to the point of no return.
His marriage, reputation and beloved England captain’s armband... all in tatters.
