Kara: Idol will miss Simon Cowell
Kara DioGuardi has admitted she's going to miss Simon Cowell when he leaves American Idol.
Kara told E! Online: "He's a huge part of the show, he's got one of the best personalities ever on a television show - he gets away with saying things that no one could get away with."
She went on: "He's charming, he's made the show hugely successful, and he's going to be very missed."
Simon confirmed the current run of the show would be his last as he concentrates on launching The X Factor in the US.
Kara also commented on rumours that Idol host Ryan Seacrest would be taking Simon's place.
"I don't see Ryan giving up what he's currently doing on Idol," Kara said. "What he's doing now works for him perfectly ... I have no idea who will or who should replace Simon."
Former X Factor winner Leona Lewis also waded in on the news of Simon's exit, telling the website: "I guess he needed a change and wanted to do something different. I think he's going to have a good time doing The X Factor here.
"I don't think the format (of The X Factor) will be exactly like the UK. I'm excited to see what they will do with it to make it different."
